Raycom’s WWBT, its NBC affiliate in Richmond, Va., aired an investigative series that exposed how 125 companies delinquent in paying their taxes are being rewarded with government contracts.

The investigation, led by Lee Zurik, who heads Raycom’s investigative unit, began airing back in February on WVUE, Raycom’s Fox affiliate in New Orleans.

Zurik’s investigative work at WVUE, where he anchors the 9 and 10 p.m. news, has won local and national recognition, including five national Edward R. Murrow awards, two Peabody Awards and a host of other prestigious journalistic honors.

But WWBT’s investigation, using new information from the IRS and the federal government, was put together by Rachel DePompa and Andy Miller, the executive producer of the Raycom Investigative Unit.
